Tindle Primed to Qualify Well, Win Rounds in Bristol |
BRISTOL, TN - Tindle Enterprises' Promod pilot Tim Tindle is primed and ready to qualify well and win rounds in this weekend's NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn. This is the 4th stop on the 10-race 2009 Get Screened America Promod Challenge schedule, presented by ProCare RX.
Those goals are always part of the mindset of a man in his 3rd year driving in the Promod class - known as "the wild door slammers of the sport." And consistency is what Tindle and crew chief Quain Stott are seeking in order to achieve as the NHRA Promod series reaches the midway point of the season.
"We're just looking for consistency right now," said Tindle, who has never won in Bristol, but has one national-event win to his credit this season. "We have been fairly close nearly every race, but haven't closed the deal. We hated losing in the first round in St.Louis. That was a rough one."
"We just need to qualify in the right position so we can go out and get the job done. That takes going down the track two times on Friday and Saturday. We are going to focus on qualifying and then worry about racing on Sunday when the time comes," added Tindle.
Qualifying is scheduled to begin with two rounds on Friday (4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and continues Saturday with a third and final qualifying attempt (2:15 p.m.). The first round of eliminations is scheduled for Saturday evening at 4:30 p.m., with the remaining three rounds of eliminations set for Sunday.

Personett takes personal bests into Bristol |
|
We had a very strong race car in St. Louis, qualifying No. 3 with a 5.954 at a whopping 250.88 MPH. An unfortunate failure of a 50¢ bolt during the burnout of Sunday's first round of eliminations left Personett's Camaro helpless against Harold Laird's strong running Corvette.
"The shifter linkage broke during the burnout. It was like trying to change directions with a piece of spaghetti," Personett said. "I managed to get the car backed up and staged, but the transmission just came out of gear during the launch. That's a bad break but not as bad as some other teams encountered this weekend.
"We have everything repaired and are looking forward to a strong showing in Bristol. Our Precision Turbo Charged Hemi is making a lot of horsepower, we just need to get better at applying all that power to the track.
"With support from Big Stuff 3, Personett Motorsport Trailer Sales, Precision Turbo & Engine, Arias Pistons, Red Line Oil, Friction Unlimited, NGK Spark Plugs, Penske Racing Shocks, Ferrea Valves, Racepak, Jesel, GRP, PAK, VP Racing Fuel, Mickey Thompson Tires, and RJ Racecars, I am confident our team will move up the competitive ladder," he said.

Al Billes set to guide his team through Thunder Valley |
BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 13, 2009) - R2B2 Racing crew chief, Al Billes, has guided the powerful duo of Roger Burgess and Raymond Commisso to a spectacular start of the season, and this weekend, Billes returns to the scene of his second Pro Mod Challenge win, back in May of 2004, hoping his success as a driver will equate to fortune as a tuner. The team is set to compete in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.

Competition heats up as Pro Mods rumble into Thunder Valley |
BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 12, 2009) - In the heart of Pro Mod country, it's anyone's game in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge, and the battle is heating up as competitors enter the second of four races in a seven-week span this weekend at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn. The race will also feature a special tribute to 2008 event winner Steve Engel. Most-recent event winner Roger Burgess is definitely on a roll, never qualifying below No. 2 so far this season and consistently delivering 5.90-second performances when he stages his ProCare Rx Camaro. His Duluth, Ga.-based team, tuned by 2004 Bristol Pro Mod Challenge winner Al Billes, is to a man ready to put another Get Screened America Warrior on the mantle, but to do that, they will have to get past points leader Mike Castellana and his Al-Anabi teammate Burton Auxier. Auxier has twice runnered-up this season, and Castellana has driven his nitrous-powered '68 Firebird to a quarterfinal and semifinal finish to go along with his Gainesville win. After the carnage of the demolition derby-style racing in St. Louis that saw series stalwarts Rick Stivers and Harold Laird both roll their cars in dramatic non-injuring crashes, the field for this weekend's event is reduced to a hopefully lucky 13. Entrants include: Burton Auxier, Joe Baker, Roger Burgess, Mike Castellana, Raymond Commisso, Chip King, Mike Knowles, Taylor Lastor, Jay Payne, Brad Personett, Danny Rowe, Tim Tindle, Andy McCoy. The drivers and fans of the series will have opportunity to honor the late Steve Engel, winner of the 2008 Bristol event, through charitable donations to be received during the weekend and given to the Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House. Engel, who died as a result of injuries he sustained in a racing accident in Indianapolis last season, celebrated the Bristol win as his first - and only - win in the Challenge. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House is to provide a "temporary" home-away-from-home for children and families of seriously ill children receiving medical care in any local hospital. The Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge opens with two rounds of qualifying on Friday (4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and continues Saturday with a third and final qualifying attempt (2:15 p.m.). The first round of eliminations is scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m., with the remaining three rounds of eliminations set for Sunday.
