 TOPEKA, Kan. (May 31, 2009) - R2B2 Motors/ProCare Rx Pro Mod driver Raymond Commisso blasted to a quarterfinal finish Sunday in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.After taking out Taylor Lastor Saturday afternoon with a monster hole shot - his 6.142/238.13 taking out Lastor's quicker-but-losing 6.08/237.21 - Commisso and his Al Billes-led team were confident coming into eliminations Sunday, but knew they had to face the No. 1 qualifier Joe Baker in round two. "Any time you head to the starting line, you have to race your own race, and that's what I really try to do," Commisso said. "I knew that Joe was just burning up the track all weekend, and that we'd been struggling for consistency, but I also knew that this Camaro can run stellar numbers, so I felt good." At the flash of green, Commisso left just a few hundredths behind Baker, but Baker had the quicker car and took the win stripe ahead of Commisso: 5.971/240.12 to 6.116/237.42. "Today was just one of those days when we got out-run. There were no failures, no parts or driver issues - they just had the better car today. I can live with that - and try again next time," Commisso said. "We'll just take a look at what happened and keep working on finding our numbers, hopefully get some testing in on our way to Englishtown, and try to tackle them again," he said. Next up for Commisso and the R2B2 Racing team are the United Association NHRA SuperNationals June 11-14 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. ### |
