| Burgess edged out in first round at E-Town |
ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 15, 2009) -- R2B2 Racing driver Roger Burgess piloted his 'Ancient Warrior' ProCare Rx '68 Camaro Pro Mod to the No. 6 qualifying position in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the United Association NHRA SuperNationals and lost by less than four feet in a thrilling first-round race Sunday.Facing off against Tim Tindle in round one, Burgess left the starting line .017-seconds after Tindle, and despite having a quicker lap, Burgess lost the race by less than four feet. The final numbers gave the holeshot win to Tindle, 6.042 at 242.28 mph to Tindle's 6.049 at 236.84 mph "Tim Tindle did a great job of managing the track, any my car wanted to go left and take the long-way to the finish line - but we almost got him," Burgess said. "They did a good job of getting down the track, and, really, I was late on the tree. If I had had my normal light, I might have been able to hold him off. Bottom line, they did the better job today," he said. Although disappointed by the loss, Burgess said he was extremely pleased with the weekend, especially with the victory of his teammate Raymond Commisso as well as Melanie Troxel's debut in Pro Mod. "Melanie did a great job in her first time competing in Pro Mod, and I couldn't be happier for Raymond," Burgess said. "Al had his car dialed in all weekend long, and Ray just did a great job of keeping focused and doing everything right. I'm really pleased with how the team has come together, and even with Melanie joining us now, halfway through the season, we're all really working well together. "There was a huge celebration in the winner's circle after such a long day, and when one of us wins, we all win," Burgess said. ### |
