Payne repeats at Richmond in a weekend like none before

- In the reasonably short history of Pro Modified drag racing, there has never been anything like this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. The stands were full and the fans stood and cheered as records were broken, re-broken, and broken yet again. Side-by-side runs in the 5.80's, nitrous cars blasting into uncharted territory, and a turbo-charged monster that sucked the wind from the sails of every other car with a 253.28 mph blast. In the end, Jay Payne defended his event title and won the Warrior and Mike Knowles who failed to even qualify walked away with an NHRA Wally.

Tindle Advances with Career Best E.T.
Tim_Tindle2After fighting a 4-week gremlin in his GT500 Ford Mustang, Tim Tindle and the Tindle Racing Team are making progress and gaining ground at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. Tindle qualified in the top half of the field with a 5.93, 240 mph and defeated Mike Castellana in the opening round of the Get Screened America Promod Challenge, presented by ProCare RX.

Baker wins round one by a holeshot, advances to Sunday

(October 10, 2009) - After running a 6.027 at 239.10 to qualifying No. 15 in the ultra-quick field of the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals, home builder Joe Baker blasted to a first-round upset holeshot victory over No. 2 qualifier Brad Personett to advance to the second round on Sunday at Virginia Motorsports Park. He also claimed the B&J Transmissions Bonus cash by winning the round.

(October 10, 2009)- R2B2 Racing teammates Melanie Troxel and Raymond Commisso are set for a showdown in the second round of eliminations on Sunday in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. Commisso tore down the track to victory in round-one action Friday evening, sending current points leader Burton Auxier packing and giving owner/driver Roger Burgess a boost in his bid to take the lead in the points race.

Pro Mods deliver a Record-breaking Day in Richmond

(October 10, 2009)- NHRA Virginia Nationals fans witnessed the world ET record broken not once, but thrice today in last session qualifying and round-one action in the Get Screened America Pro Modified Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at Virginia Motorsports Park.  Brad Personett broke the previous record held by Raymond Commisso by blasting to a turbo-powered 5.843 at a monster 253.28 mph, only to have Rick Stivers barrel down the track with an unprecedented 5.837 to take the pole in qualifying. Stivers then proceeded to back up the number and surpass his mark in first-round eliminations with a 5.835-second shot.

Burgess leads Team R2B2 at No. 2 after one day in Richmond
melDINWIDDIE, Va. (October 9, 2009) - Roger Burgess grabbed the No. 2 spot in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals Friday while his teammates Raymond Commisso and Melanie Troxel both blasted five-second runs and claimed top-half provisional qualifying positions.

 

Burgess set the bar high in first session at Virginia Motorsports Park, blowing the field away with a 5.936 at 241.20 mph to take the top spot after one round and making it clear that he has the World Championship points battle on his mind.  In the second round, he ran a sizzling 5.911 at 242.32 to take the No. 2 spot over night.

Stivers takes Top Spot after day one in Richmond

(October 9, 2009) -  "This Trane is on a rail," said Pro Mod driver Rick Stivers as he reveled in his provisional No. 1 qualifying position in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. Both of Stivers passes in the Trane '06 Stratus Pro Mod on Friday were in the five second zone, saving his best for last and blasting to a 5.906 at 242.32 mph to lead the field overnight.

Baker provisional No. 13 in Richmond

(October 9, 2009) - At any other race track this season, a Pro Mod running a 6.027 at 239.10 mph would most likely be good enough to make the top half of the field, but at this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NRHA Virginia Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park just outside of Richmond, driver Joe Baker found out that a 6.02 is only good enough to take a provisional No. 13.

Knowles outside the field after two rounds in Richmond, hoping for a third

DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 9, 2009) - Coming into the NHRA Virginia Nationals, Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge driver Mike Knowles was hoping to make up a 43-point deficit and get into the Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash, but after two rounds of qualifying, Knowles is outside the field and hoping for another qualifying session to make the show.
