stiversDINWIDDIE, Va. Kirk Kuhns currently sits at No. 16 with a 6.092.

Stivers looking for a repeat in Richmond

stiversDINWIDDIE, Va. (October 8, 2009) - The best way to follow up on a win, according to Pro Mod driver Rick Stivers, is with another win - and that's exactly what the driver of the Trane 2006 Stratus Pro Mod is planning for this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. On the heels of his first win of the season at the last event in Charlotte, N.C., the Kentucky-based HVAC entrepreneur is returning to the site of his first Pro Mod Challenge win - the 2007 event at Virginia Motorsports Park.

knowles

DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 8, 2009) - Mike Knowles, driver of the Knowles Enterprises/B&J Transmissions '63 Corvette Pro Mod, is heading into this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals with the singular goal of moving into the top eight and qualifying for the Matco Tools $35,000 Pro Mod Clash. To do that, he has to qualify better than Tim Tindle or Jay Payne and win at least two more rounds than either.

R2B2 Racing on a mission in Richmond
Roger-Burgess

DINWIDDIE, Va. (October 8, 2009) - There's never been a more critical time for team R2B2 than this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. Roger Burgess is number two in the points, just 54 points out of first with two races left to catch the leader Burton Auxier. Raymond Commisso is currently sixth and solidly in the top eight to compete in the Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash, but the Toronto restaurateur and current ET world record holder will be fielding a new car, adding an unknown commodity for the team; and Melanie Troxel is looking to follow-up on her runner-up finish at the last event.

Baker looks to close the gap in Richmond
Baker2 - After firmly placing his '68 Camaro Z/28 Pro Mod in the No. 5 position in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge, Milton, Fla.-resident Joe Baker is just 117 points out of the lead with two races left in the season and an opportunity to move up, possibly into the lead. All he has to do is get to the finals twice in two races, something the former rookie of the year was able to do in his freshman year.

It's all about the points; the forecast is fast
patille-smDINWIDDIE, Va. (October 8, 2009) - This weekend is all about the points for drivers in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx. The swan-song event at the NHRA Virginia Nationals is the second-to-last event in the season and the last event for drivers to qualify for the $35,000 Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash, and it's the last time the tour will visit the Virginia Motorsports Park. The points battles are fierce for the World Champion title with four drivers vying for the top spot, and five competitors are battling for the last three available positions in the Matco Clash.

Qualifying battles down to the wire in Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash
Tindle2CONCORD, N.C. (September 21, 2009) - On the heels of one of the most exciting and intense Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge events of the season at the NHRA Carolinas Nationals, the battle to qualify for the $35,000 Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash has intensified to a do-or-die mentality.

The current qualifiers, the top eight in points for the Pro Mod Challenge World Championship, include (in order): *Burton Auxier, *Roger Burgess, *Danny Rowe, *Mike Castellana, *Joe Baker, Raymond Commisso, Jay Payne and Tim Tindle. While the five top qualifiers have secured their spots (marked with an *), the bottom three will have to defend their positions.

Brad Personett, Mike Knowles, and Charlotte-winner Rick Stivers all have mathematical possibility of making the Clash. Personett is 38 points behind Tindle - just two round-wins, while Knowles is 43 points back, and Stivers 59.

With one qualifying Pro Mod Challenge event remaining, the NHRA Virginia Nationals, Oct. 9-11, there are 116 available points, along with a possible 20 points for setting a new national ET record. Drivers receive 10 points for attending the event, up-to 28 qualifying points,  and 20 points per round-win. To break into the top eight the drivers trying to get in will have to have a combination of one of the bottom-three driver's early exit combined with going two or three rounds beyond them - possibly requiring an event win - in order to have a shot at a piece of the $35,000 purse.

The track in Richmond has produced record times in the past, and given optimum weather conditions, any combination of events is possible. For the top 11 drivers in the class, every lap down the track will be critical, and for the remaining contestants, bragging rights on being a spoiler can also be earned, making for another thrilling Pro Mod show.
