(9-18-2009) CONCORD, North Carolina -Make no bones about it - nobody wants the 2009 Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge championship more than Danny Rowe and his Laguna Beach, California-based Pro Modified team. Rowe, currently third in the Pro Modified points standings with three races left, is eager to build on his already outstanding season at perhaps the most talked about venue on the entire NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series tour - zMax Dragway outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Highlighted by three final round appearances and a win, 2009 has been another shining example of the talent Pro Modified's most formidable tag team - Danny Rowe and Jimmy Rector. Using consistency as their weapon of choice, the dynamic duo has utilized a barrage of 5.9 and 6.0-second runs to qualify in the Top 10 at every race this season, keeping him in good position to go rounds on race day. Moving into the latter half of the season, Rowe knows it's going to take a hard charge to seal the deal on his first world championship. "We're extremely excited to be racing at Bruton Smith's crown jewel of a drag strip outside of Charlotte," said Rowe, who along with 20 other Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge drivers will be visiting zMax Dragway for the first time. "Our focus this weekend will remain the same as it has been all season; it's all about consistency, and a little bit about luck. "We have been tough all year and I think it's our time. We've shown that this Sterling Bridge/Hottinger Group Camaro is hard to beat on Sunday and we're getting better at every race. With a facility like zMax and the conditions this time of year, we're going to have to step on it and get after it. "The cars out here are all competitive; you know it's going to be a fight to the end. It's going to come down to the wire. "We really have to thank Fabien Gaglio, Keith Prosser and everyone at Sterling Bridge and Hottinger Group for their continued support. They deserve a world championship and we want to be the ones that give one to them." |
