Billes ready to lead R2B2 to a Vegas Pay Day |
LAS VEGAS (October 29, 2009) - The R2B2 Racing team of Roger Burgess, Raymond Commisso and Melanie Troxel could leave Las Vegas this weekend with more than $60,000 in prize money, and each of the team members and crew is ready to do their part to make all of that happen. At the top, Burgess is only 32 points behind current leader Burton Auxier, and has a remarkable chance of passing him to take the World Championship title and the $25,000 grand prize. Burgess and Commisso both have a chance to win the $25,000 prize in the Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash, and all three drivers could take home the event winner's purse of $10,000 in this weekend's Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx at the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals.

Stivers Trane Rolls Into Vegas |
LAS VEGAS (October 29, 2009) - Rick Stivers, driver of the Trane '06 Dodge Stratus Pro Mod, is on a 7-1 winning roll in the past two Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx events, and he is confident coming into this weekend's NHRA Las Vegas Nationals he'll keep rolling winners.
"We had a little hiccough in Richmond in the final, and I banged up the front of (team owner) Brad Anderson's car a little, but we were able to get things fixed really quickly and we're good to go. This little hot rod is the car to beat, and I know we'll have a great time this weekend," Stivers said.
"I love Vegas, because I love to win. I always look at things here as an opportunity to go home with other people's money, and I'd like nothing more than to leave with a $10,000 event winner's check," he said.
Stivers won the event in Charlotte and was runner-up at the most recent event, held outside Richmond, Va. He said there was no reason why he couldn't keep his Trane-backed car winning this weekend.
"All of the guys on our team are so awesome, and I'm sure we'll be successful here this weekend. Brad's got the horsepower, and he's been to the final with Jay (Payne, teammate) here in Vegas several times, so he knows how to handle that track.
"Besides that, I just feel lucky. And when I get that feeling... good things happen," Stivers said with a knowing smile.
Qualifying is scheduled for 12:00 and 6:00 p.m. Friday and 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Knowles to display "Blown Money" Pro Mod at Monte Carlo |
|
LAS VEGAS (October 24, 2009) Mike Knowles, driver of the Knowles Enterprises/B&J Racing Transmissions "Blown Money" 1963 Corvette Pro Mod, will have his award-winning car on display at the Monte Carlo Casino on the Strip in Las Vegas Tuesday thru Thursday, October 27-29.
"Our car is so perfectly themed for Las Vegas, and we've got a great relationship with the Monte Carlo, we wanted to help promote the Pro Mod Challenge before our race coming up next weekend," Knowles said.
Knowles' Corvette features legal tender $100 bills in the paint scheme along with billowing flames and the theme "Blown Money."
"Sometimes it really is blown money - especially when we're not running good," he laughed. "Fortunately, we've been picking things up and we're running good coming into this event."
The car will be on display in front of the hotel on The Strip during the day and in the valet driveway during the evening/night hours.
"We're so pleased with what Get Screened America and Roger Burgess have done with the whole Pro Mod Challenge this year, and this is just a small way we can help bring more attention to the great racing we're having with the Pro Mods.
"We'll be around during the days to sign autographs and talk with fans, and if they want to see us race, we'll be out at the dragstrip starting next Friday for our last race of the season. I hope everyone has a chance to come on by," Knowles said.
