B&J Racing Transmissions adds a bonus for Pro Mod Challenge winners |
CONCORD, N.C. (September 22, 2009) - B&J Racing Transmissions has always been a proud supporter of the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge and its competitors, and beginning at the U.S. Nationals and for every race throughout the remainder of the season, the company increased their commitment and added excitement to the first round of eliminations by awarding $500 to the winner of a randomly-selected pair of Pro Mods. During the drivers meeting held before every race, a number (1-16) is randomly selected that designates a pair that will race for the B&J Bonus. In Indianapolis, Danny Rowe received the first $500 check, and at Charlotte for the NHRA Carolinas Nationals, Burton Auxier won the Bonus along with a matching prize from Rick Stivers' Stivers HVAC. Mike Strasberg, owner of B&J Transmissions, said, "We love Pro Mod racing, and the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge puts on a show of the very best cars from around the world. It's our privilege to support the series as a sponsor, as well as add some more excitement to the Saturday night eliminations rounds. "It's a format that doesn't necessarily reward the No.1 qualifier, but instead keeps the drivers dialed in to what number they qualify and who they are paired against. It's just another way to keep things exciting for the fans as well as the teams," he said. Get Screened America CEO Roger Burgess said, "We definitely appreciate guys like Mike and companies like B&J that support the series. Any time someone wants to give our drivers more prize money, I'm all in for that. We have worked hard all year to put on a great show and continue to raise the level of competition and professionalism in our series, and it is programs like this that help us raise the bar." The next event for the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge is the NHRA Virginia Nationals, Oct. 9-11. ### |

Qualifying battles down to the wire in Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash |
CONCORD, N.C. (September 21, 2009) - On the heels of one of the most exciting and intense Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge events of the season at the NHRA Carolinas Nationals, the battle to qualify for the $35,000 Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash has intensified to a do-or-die mentality. The current qualifiers, the top eight in points for the Pro Mod Challenge World Championship, include (in order): *Burton Auxier, *Roger Burgess, *Danny Rowe, *Mike Castellana, *Joe Baker, Raymond Commisso, Jay Payne and Tim Tindle. While the five top qualifiers have secured their spots (marked with an *), the bottom three will have to defend their positions. Brad Personett, Mike Knowles, and Charlotte-winner Rick Stivers all have mathematical possibility of making the Clash. Personett is 38 points behind Tindle - just two round-wins, while Knowles is 43 points back, and Stivers 59. With one qualifying Pro Mod Challenge event remaining, the NHRA Virginia Nationals, Oct. 9-11, there are 116 available points, along with a possible 20 points for setting a new national ET record. Drivers receive 10 points for attending the event, up-to 28 qualifying points, and 20 points per round-win. To break into the top eight the drivers trying to get in will have to have a combination of one of the bottom-three driver's early exit combined with going two or three rounds beyond them - possibly requiring an event win - in order to have a shot at a piece of the $35,000 purse. The track in Richmond has produced record times in the past, and given optimum weather conditions, any combination of events is possible. For the top 11 drivers in the class, every lap down the track will be critical, and for the remaining contestants, bragging rights on being a spoiler can also be earned, making for another thrilling Pro Mod show.
